Poole Specsavers sets its sights high for charity
SPECSAVERS in Poole has set its sights high for local charity Diverse Abilities Plus.
£1000 was raised to encourage two fearless members of the Specsavers team to do a 10,000ft sky dive in Dorset in September.
Darren Booth who is a lab technician and Simon Annandale, a Dispensing Optician, managed to make the dive after two failed attempts in the summer due to inclement weather conditions!
Simon said: ‘We are so proud of how much we have raised for Diverse Abilities Plus, a charity that provides lifetime care, education and housing support for people with physical and learning difficulties in the local community. Of course they say third time lucky – and the third attempt only meant that we managed to raise more sponsorship.
“Darren and I are so lucky to be given the opportunity, our names were drawn out of a hat as there were several members of the team eager to take on the challenge!’
Ophthalmic director Sinan Khan said: ‘We do a lot of work for charity here in Poole and are proud of the significant amount of money that this sky dive has raised.
The ability to donate to a local Poole charity means the world to us. It is an opportunity for us to contribute even more to the local community – a vital part of our business ethos.’
