Take the slow train, the Watercress Belle (formed from an ex-British Railways MK1 boat train and first class dining coaches that were originally used on premier services such as those from London Waterloo to Southampton Docks serving ocean liners such as the Queen Mary), the Countryman or the 'Real Ale Train' and let off some steam at the Watercress Line. Take in the magic of steam travel as you enjoy a stunning trip through idyllic Hampshire countryside behind a large main line steam locomotive.
Many of these steam locomotives worked the luxury services from London to the south coast over the former Southern Railway during the age of steam.
There is a fabulous schedule of events throughout the year that are all listed on the Watercress Line web site. Including 'Days out with Thomas', sensational Steam Festivals and more, there is something for the whole family to enjoy. The web site also boasts some very jolly insider tales from the engineers and workshop! It is all so very interesting. Services run weekends from January to November, public holidays, half terms and selected mid-week days from May to September.
