Branksome Beach
Well Branksome Beach – move over and let someone else have a go at achieving the faultless dining experience that is delivered at this fantastic beach front restaurant! This is an Enjoy! favourite and it never disappoints. 2007 is a real calendar landmark for the twostorey venue. The building that has been the restaurant’s home since 2001 is 75 years old this year and there will be celebrations throughout the summer, commemorating the 1932 opening of the country’s first ‘solarium’. Today, one can see the ‘painted lady’ on the front and back of the building still representing all the solarium stood for all those years ago! Today, instead of sun worshipping under glass, expect a superb dining experience for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and of course, dinner. Breakfast is rather a ritual for locals and when you are visiting the area make an effort to be part of the experience, it’s the best breakfast in town – to coin a phrase – but as you will see when you are at your table you couldn’t be any further from the town or get any closer to the beach and the breaking waves while you dine. The seasonal lunch menu is a real delight and is always accompanied by some really inspired specials that are displayed daily on the blackboards either side of the open kitchen hatch in the ground floor restaurant. The summer lunch and dinner menu similarly comprise (apart from the light lunch options); chicken liver parfait and rillette of rabbit with apple chutney, baby leaf salad and granary toast and salmon and basil fish cakes with a red pepper and pine nut relish or balsamic roast beetroot mousse served with a goat’s cheese and watercress salad and a foccacia crouton. For your main course choose between the favourite Branksome Beach Burger (lunch only) an 8oz 100% Aberdeen Angus beef burger.

This is served on a foccacia bun with tomato and pickle salad, hand cut chips (delicious) and home made tomato relish. Pan-fried skate wing with broad beans, peas and red chard, ratte potatoes with garlic and thyme butter or slow-cooked belly of Tamworth pork with Scrumpy cider, honey and ginger sauce with cashew nut and coriander rice. The salads are wonderful and as mouth-watering as the hardier dishes – the Enjoy favourite being the seared tuna carpaccio with a pickled vegetable and noodle salad with a soy and ginger dressing – for a lighter lunch choose a Branksome Beach club sandwich or eggs Florentine. The desserts are as tasty as the other dishes – have you ever wondered why the desserts don’t come first on a menu? The Branksome Beach sweets prove the theory behind the practice – as you would never get further through the menu as they are all irresistible! Choose from blueberry and orange cheesecake with vanilla shortbread, raspberry trifle or the white chocolate chip brownie! As you can tell, the menu is exceptional and is only enhanced by the performance of the team that is under the direction of Nadine Frost, she really has got it right here, the service is slick and seamless with good impartial advice on side orders, wines and knowledge of all of the dishes on offer – even the specials – as all of the staff are invited to try the menu seasonally so their recommendations are from the heart! Make a date at Branksome Beach – enjoy one of the summer barbecues upstairs on the first floor terrace and bar – a glass of Champagne as the sun sets to the west or a delightful meal with loved ones, friends, family or work colleagues. This restaurant has it all.
