Eating out

Of all the restaurants in all the world – you have to dine in this one, and that one, oh and that one! Yes you do! Bring your appetite down to the south coast and see how our new and established restaurants are shaking up the dining scene. This area continues to lead the way in traditional, modern, classic and French cuisine. This year our dining reviews cover some of the best restaurants in the country, let alone in Dorset and Hampshire. One aspect we have seen improve over the years is relative value, and this has kept all of our restaurants healthy in the more challenging of times. Don't forget the lateral impact of dining out - you are supporting way more than just one local business, the 'food chain' goes on… So utterly spoil yourself at one of our Enjoy! favourites, rub shoulders with celebrity and you may just bump into the best sommelier in the world - who knows what your dining experience will offer you - one thing for sure it will be unforgettable - here is a taster for you to Enjoy!

Fishy Fishy Cook Book Competition

Those lovely folk at Fishy Fishy have given us three signed copies of their brand new Fishy Fishy Cook Book – with an introduction by Dermot O’Leary to give away.

Chewton Glen Hotel - Vetiver

The ultimate pleasure and one of life’s pure luxuries – that is the Chewton Glen. It’s a constant and that is comforting.

Patrick's Restaurant and Bar

Patrick’s is a versatile, attractive and welcoming restaurant and bar in Ashley Cross, Poole and is at the heart of the Poole and Bournemouth culinary and bar scene.

Fishy Fishy Restaurant

Fishy Fishy is one of the newest and most welcome recruits on the Dorset dining scene and it has really shaken up the local seafood and waterfront competition with its rigorous sustainability and pricing policies respectively!

California Wine Country Restaurant, Hotel TerraVina

This will set the scene for you and I quote from Nottingham, Kent and Vancouver respectively: “Excellent, superb and delightful!”

An Interview with Gerard Basset

2011 sees Gerard jet off to Bordeaux, New Zealand, Madeira (this one a holiday I am told but I bet he squeezes in a tasting or three), Russia, China and Japan – to name but a few working trips.

The Print Room

The Print Room has a certain draw that folk can’t let go. The restaurant is in the heart of Bournemouth’s town and media nerve centre and thus makes the ideal ‘deal sealing’ venue.

The Tynley Hall Hotel

The Tylney Hall Hotel in Hook has much to celebrate in 2011, its landmark 25th year.

The Royal Exeter's 1812 Restaurant

This is about the only restaurant in town where you don’t mind waiting for a table! Not suggesting that is ever the case – but should it ever be the case – wayhey – off to the cocktail bar for a couple of the most stunning cocktails in the south (nay country as the list of accolades just gets longer and longer every year).

Balmer Lawn, Beresfords Restaurant

It’s all go at the Balmer Lawn, the hotel was originally a hunting lodge in the mid 1800s and the lawn well, that was originally called Palmers Lawn in the days of William the Conqueror (the name change is reputedly down to a basic spelling error)!

Mark Hix, Hix Oyster and Fish House

Rarely on reviews do we take guests but this was an exception...

West Beach

Now this is premium real estate – no one is closer to the water than this and Bournemouth’s West Beach is the top beachside restaurant in the county for sure!

Prezzo

For a large chain of Italian restaurants (over 161 todate) Prezzo continually achieves that whole locale feel and no more so than now with the introduction of the local menu. Developed for each region the menu now has influences from the immediate area combined with that landmark Prezzo flavour.

Black Label Events at AFC Bournemouth

One of Bournemouth’s most high profile venues has surely got to be AFC Bournemouth’s Seward Stadium in Kings Park? Not only base to the Cherries home team but also to the Champions Top Floor Restaurant, facing west over the pitch and due south from the terrace overlooking Kings Park.

Steve Groves, MasterChef

Steve Groves has packed a lot of top-notch cheffing into his career to date and here he tells us a little more about his journey and ambitions.

Recipies by Steve Groves

Steve has put together two delightful recipes for you to try at home, they represent his creativity, imagination and his undeniable desire to make people smile.

Master Builders

This was one of the most delightful and natural experiences in the Enjoy! calendar as the Master Builder’s is everything one would expect from a riverbank adventure with over 200 years of history in the adjacent village that was once a thriving shipbuilding village called Montagu Town.

Indi's

There is only one recommendation that we can make as far as Indian goes when asked at the Enjoy! office and that’s Indi’s.

The Custom House

Where do you start with the Custom House – owned and skippered by Mark Heffer, a local hero in Poole. This man has more energy than a forked strike of lightning!

Olivers Fish and Chips

Oliver’s is a fabulous fish and chip shop in Branksome – minutes from Tower Park, Poole Stadium, the BIC and a stone’s throw from all the lovely pubs in Ashley Cross – as if you needed an excuse – you’ll be passing anyway!

The Funnybone Comedy Club

Funnybone Comedy Club is one of the highlights of the comedy circuit in the UK and attracts acts accordingly.
